The "Eminente Reserva de Cuba" rum obtained its first gold medal at the China Wine & Spirits Awards, the largest and most prestigious wine and spirits competition in the country, diplomatic sources confirmed today.
When informing about this new achievement, the Cuban ambassador in China, Carlos Miguel Pereira, emphasized that with this step "Cuban rum continues its upward path within the Chinese market."
This competition selects and distinguishes beverages from around the world, with the potential to be marketed in the Asian nation, and its awards are considered as a key to gain recognition among distributors and users.
The awarded bottles receive official certificates and stickers which help to attract even more attention. Eminente Reserva is a rum aged in white oak barrels, slightly smoked, with notes of coffee and raspadura, a sweet derived from sugar cane.
Last February this rum made its debut in the United Kingdom and has been very well received. Rums are among the always-present products in the Cuban exhibitions in commercial spaces of China.
In November 2019, in the context of the 2nd China International Import and Export Expo, the Cuba Ron S.A. Corporation signed an agreement with the Beijing Yamei Anfu International company to export 30 thousand boxes per year of the Cubay and Perla del Norte brands.
Company executives indicated then that the agreement is valid for three years and grants a very favorable position to the island's spirits.
