Cuba Ron Corporation S.A. was one of the entities selected to receive the
80th Anniversary Flag of the Workers Central Union of Cuba (CTC), in recognition of the work of equal number of labor collectives in the country, delivered on January 27 in the hall of the Lost Steps of the National Capitol in Havana.
Only seven groups of the Ministry of the Food Industry deserved the honor,
as part of a total of 80 work centers throughout the country, including Cuba
Ron S.A. The flag will rotate through all the companies and entities of the
Corporation.
The high recognition was granted to celebrate outstanding groups for the XXI
Congress of the CTC and the 80th anniversary of this organization, in a
ceremony attended by José Ramón Machado Ventura, The Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba; and other members of the Political Bureau as Salvador Valdés Mesa, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers and Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, General Secretary of the CTC.
"You represent the millions of workers in our country who contribute their
sweat and effort to production, services, teaching, research and the
production of wealth for the welfare of the people," said Ulises Guilarte.
He also reminded the laureates that "the trade union movement reaches this
date in a context of updating our economic and social model, with the
commitment to be the protagonists of the strategic battle waged by the
nation for efficiency in the productive field, in that the contribution of
the labor collectives must be superior and focused on the priorities defined
for our economy ".
The 80th Anniversary Flag of the CTC is awarded to the best centers of
various sectors of the economy for the outstanding results in its social
order, in addition to the good functioning of the union, according to
sources of the workers' organization.
Towards the congress of the CTC
The handing over of the flag was the culmination of a year of intense work,
since last June 21st, 2018, when the analysis of the document "Bases for strengthening the mission of the Cuban trade union movement" began in the union sections of the country.
This is the main document that will be discussed at the next XXI Congress of the CTC, which will be held from April 20 to 24.
During the debates, in which the members of the labor collectives have participated, the content of the text has been discussed in depth, which
considers the members' dissatisfactions and concerns. In addition, questions
were raised whose answers in Congress will contribute to the improvement of
the work of the CTC and the unions at different levels.
It is expected that in the final sessions about 1200 delegates will
participate, 15% of them are non-state workers. However, as outlined in the
document, it is the assemblies at the base that should become a concrete
expression of the celebration of the XXI Congress, because that is where the
workers act and the union functioning materializes.
So, it was at the meeting held in the Presidency of Cuba Ron S.A., where the
candidates were elected to Delegates to the final sessions of the Congress,
and also the candidates for Members of the National Council of the CTC. The
companions were María Iluminada Cachón Ruiz (Vice President) and Gabriela
García Alifano (Director of Communication and Marketing).
Other work groups of the Corporation were also recognized. In the
Santiago de Cuba Rum industry, the companion Rigoberto Fuentes Mendoza was elected direct Delegate to the congress, while the Basic Business Unit Distillery (UEB) received the status of More Productive Collective and More
Efficient, and the UEB Aging and Cooperage the condition of
National Vanguard.
In addition, the Basic Business Unit of Logistics (UEB) distinguished itself as the most productive and most efficient collective. Silvio Quintana, adviser to the president, was selected for the delivery of the Seal that accredits him for his
fiftieth anniversary worker of the Food Industry sector, whose day was
celebrated on January 25.
