With the sponsorship of the Cuba Ron SA Corporation, the orchestra Soneros All Stars gave a press conference this April 20. Its members come from other recognized Cuban groups like Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club, and among them are Luis Manuel "Guajiro" Mirabal and Gilberto 'Papi' Oviedo.
As stated by Pedro Pablo Gutiérrez, director of the orchestra, the Soneros´ fundamental goal is "to recover the places where this Cuban rhythm was danced and listened to."
The musicians of the All Stars are represented by the Empresa Comercializadora de la Música y los Espectáculos "Antonio María Romeu", and are inserted into the soundscape of the island with traditional Cuban music.
"We want to play little - known compositions. Within the repertoire we Con maña se rompe, La Brocha or Carretero engancha. We will do various genres of traditional music to include us in the files as singers of son, as well as mambo, guaracha and danzón "concluded Gutierrez.
In the context of the conference, Soneros All Stars gave awards to individuals and institutions that collaborated with the foundation of their group. Among the awarded are Reynaldo Ruffeux, director of the Antonio Maria Romeu company, journalist Pedro de la Oz, and Jorge Luis Acosta, president of Palmares SA tourism company. Concerning Cuba Ron, they recognized the orchestra by awarding it founding director for shepherding this project to rescue traditional Cuban music.
The company Cuba Ron SA contributed to the entertainment with some of its star products: Rum Reserva Especial Cubay 10 years, Santiago de Cuba Añejo Superior 11 years, Santiago de Cuba Añejo and Rum 1930, the latter is a limited edition to celebrate the 85 years of the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
